Chairman

Vic Gillman (February, 2007 to present) Ancaster, ON. Government of Canada Appointee.  Vic has a long association with the ISR, having carried out field research on the fisheries of the area in the early-1980's. Later as manager of the Inuvik DFO office during the early stages of the implementation of the IFA, Vic guided the establishment of the FJMC and got us pointed in the right direction. After leaving Inuvik, Vic went on to several senior positions with the Department in the Central and Arctic Region, most recently, prior to his retirement, as Regional Director General of Science.

Max Kotokak (1998 to present)
Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. Inuvialuit Game Council Appointee
Mr. Kotokak is a business man, fisherman and hunter who has managed to combine life in the wage economy with cultural and traditional pursuits. In addition to his FJMC membership, he is the Vice-Chair of the Tuktoyaktuk Hunters and Trappers Committee. He is married and has four children.

Burton Ayles (January 1997 to present)
Winnipeg, MB. Government of Canada O.I.C. Appointee
Dr. Ayles joined the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a fisheries research scientist in 1972. He has served in several different senior managerial positions with the Central and Arctic Region of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. He first became involved in Arctic programs in 1979 when he participated in a Departmental reorganization that led to the establishment of Arctic marine mammal research programs at the Freshwater Institute. He has also served as a Canadian member of the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission.

Redmond Clarke (April 2009 to present)
Winnipeg, MB, Alternate Canada Appointee

Dr. Red Clarke is the Interim Canada Member on the Fisheries Joint Management Committee.  He was born in England and educated at Cambridge University and the University of Manitoba.  Red joined the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 1973 at the Freshwater Institute.  He held a variety of professional and managerial positions there involving fishery management, fish habitat management and oceans management, especially in Arctic Canada.  His last position was Regional Director, Habitat, Fisheries and Oceans Management.  He retired in 2007.  He is a strong believer in co-management and conservation.  His hobbies include bird watching and gardening.
